Who owns it

FoCo Scoop is owned and published by a marketing agency based in Forsyth County, named here when we start sending. We say this plainly because it matters: some of the businesses we mention are agency clients. Wherever that is true, we label it. Clients get no special treatment in what we cover, and they cannot buy a place in our guides or lists. We do not claim to be independent of the agency, because we are not. We claim to be honest about it.

Our rules

  • No politics, no crime. There are better places for both.
  • Sponsors are labeled. Anything a business paid for says “Sponsored by” above it. Sponsors do not see or shape the rest of the issue.
  • We report facts, we do not copy words. When we summarize a story from the Forsyth County News, Appen Media, or anyone else, we say who reported it and link to them.
  • We check before we publish. An opening or closing needs two sources, one of them the business itself. Event details come from the organizer.
  • We correct quickly. Mistakes get a “we got this wrong” line in the next issue.
  • We use AI tools to help draft and edit. A person checks every fact, name, and date before anything goes out.

The group and the Instagram

The Facebook group is where neighbors ask each other for recommendations and share what is going on. It has written rules, a moderator team, and one weekly thread where businesses may promote themselves. The Instagram account shows the county in photos and short videos. Both point back here, because the email list is the one thing we own outright.
